November is Malaria Awareness Month

By Maria Santa Portillo  Nov 23, 2020Central

Proclamation No. 1168 sets the month of November of every year as Malaria Awareness Month. This 2020, in the light of the pandemic, the theme is `Control and Eliminate Malaria Despite COVID 19`. The annual event aims to facilitate program management and inculcate better health-seeking behaviors among the general population especially the high risk population on prevention and control of malaria. This years` theme is a reminder that in the midst of the battle against World War C, other health programs like malaria should not be ignored since this has been endemic in the country for a number of years already. Much has been done to attain the goals of elimination and this needs to be sustained so as not to re-create a health care system burdened with both endemic and pandemic diseases. In relation to this, various activities are set to be conducted in different provinces most especially in the endemic areas of Palawan and Sultan Kudarat. Official social media cards pertaining to this year`s event are accessible via the resource page of this website under the IEC folder.
